Drury U85 kg

Drury v Patumahoe ( April 13) .

The 85's travelled to Patty for the start of their season on a very windy and wet day.

The team has only just managed to get the numbers to field a side and arrived for the game with 16 players.

Drury had first use of the wind and did well to hold the opposition out for the first half hour. A well drilled Patty team constantly put our lads under pressure and managed to get two tries before the break.

Playing into the wind Drury were unable to stop the points coming with Patty getting across the line for another six tries. Hopefully the numbers will increase for next week  after a couple of Drury men are now carrying injuries.

Next week V Beachlands Maraetai at Drury Domain 1.00pm

Drury Under 85's v Patumahoe away 1.00pm

Drury Div 3 v Manurewa home 3.00pm

Saturday June 24

The 85's came up against an Onewhero team playing to make the semis. Onewhero had the best of the early exchanges and ran up thirty points before half time, a lot of the points coming from broken play. Drury were a better team in the second half and the game was a more even affair with the bounce sometimes favouring the opposition.  Their last game is next weekend and lets see if yhe lads can bring to the game some of the flair and skills they show at training - and perhaps give Patty something to mull over in the sheds post game.

All the best lads.

Under 85's

A hard fought game against a well drilled Karaka team that has been together for a number of years. The lads never gave up and finished the game off strongly but gave away to many early points to have any chance of a win. A better effort than last week but not helped by the weather that provided very slippery conditions that neither team really adapted to.

Next week home to Pukekohe, another tough one.

A NEW TEAM FOR 2023

It has been a few years since an U85 team took the field for Drury. Looking forward to seeing how the lads shape up in what has always been a very competitive competition. 2023 draw is below.

Not the result the Under 85's were after last week v Marist but to be fair they never had things go their way during the game. I don't want to get in trouble so I  will say no more. The team has had limited preparation for the upcoming season and Saturdays game was their first real team run.

A different story this week with numbers growing and two solid hit-outs on Tuesday and Thursday. I have a feeling this team will not long be out of the winners circle. Lets take it to Karaka.

Well done and congrats to Tainui for making it happen.

Under 85's

A tough season for the 85's with only two games to go - home this weekend hosting Onewhero and away the following Saturday to Patumahoe. Lets get a bit of a crowd for them on Saturday

Not much has gone the teams way on the field but they still hang tough post game. Great bunch of guys and hopefully onward and upward for next year.
