Pressies and Div 3 kick off

Wednesday 11 April 2018

Here we go again.......

What a huge turn out of players for the Drury v Pukekohe pressies game. With the friendship cup up for grabs Puke turned up with enough players for two teams, and their own referee!! (leave him at home next time). Drury weren't far behind in the numbers game, with a lot of new boys keen for a run.

What a hard out game it turned out to be. There are some monsters in both teams and I bet some sore body's the next day.

On a fast, dry track, Puke got a couple of early tries with some fast outside play and were never headed. Drury fought back to get close but in the end were beaten by a couple of tries. We play them twice more before the season ends, so looking forward to the next encounter. The aftermatch, as usual, was a great opportunity to catch up with mates from both sides.

Drury heads to South Park this saturday to take on Papakura.

The Div 3 team headed to Puni for their first hit out of the season. It has been a long slow process getting this team up and running, but it has finally happened, although a few got lost finding Puni.

Both teams had a bit of age to them, but more so Puni, with a couple of sixty year olds having a run. Lots of big boys in the puni team with a lot of experience, which they converted into points, scoring the first try. Enterprising play saw Drury score, and then some not-so-enterprising play saw Puni score again.

Both teams scored three tries, but the boot of Gerhard got Drury home by three - final score 22-19. Player of the day went to brother Brendon, so a good day out for the Benadie boys.

Div three are at home to Maramarua next saturday, kick off at 2.45.
