May 5th Round-up

Thursday 11 May 2017

A glorious day weatherwise and a great day for rugby. No excuses with a firm track and a beautiful clear sky.

The 85's headed off to Patumahoe for a 1.00pm game. Patty Prems were home with the opportunity to take out the first round with a win, which they succesfully did. Doesnt make it any easier to find a park though with the amount of support they had, lucky there were no tow-aways.

Patty 85's were always going to be tough, having won the grade the last two years, but by the end of the game they knew there was another contender in town. A great effort from Drury to come so close to a win, and but for a flat patch in the first half with one in the bin, (onya Dan) the result may have been different

A solid forward effort with the standout being Cody Waaka who was awarded player of the day at the aftermatch. We know we can top them next time round. 13 - 5 at half time with the final score of 23 - 10. News of the week is the retirement of Robert Sinclair (aka Browser) who is feeling his age (which is a secret).

No rugby for them this week with a bye and they have Waiuku away on the 20th to finish off the round and then Onewhero away on the 27th.

The pressies hosted a firey Rewa team at home. With the ninja coming off his 14 week suspension from last season (a world record for Rewa) it was always going to be a special occasion. Glad I wasn't reffing that one........ a tough game with a close score gave it an extra edge. Well done to caveman for player of the day, and to those players that fronted on the field (not nick or blowers).

They head off to Puke this weekend which will be another ripsnorter. They are the only team home the following weekend, hosting Papakura.

The club will be open from 5.00pm Saturday avo for those wishing to pop in.
