Pironga and Te Kauwhata

Monday 24 June 2013

An under strength Drury 19's travelled to Pirongia and came away with a clean sheet, yellow or red card that is. For only the second Saturday this year no one was sent from the field, so well done. Reports have the team arriving with minutes to spare till kick off and the opposition piling on the points early. Once the game settled the boys got stuck in and but for a couple of late intercept tries (two of the opposition played for Drury) the score may have been closer than the 40 odd - nil that it was. Top of the table Haurak North at home this Saturdy.

Drurys top side had a hard day at the office home to Te Kauwhata. On a cold wet miserable day the two teams managed four tries between them, three to Drury and one to Te k. Conditions under foot were almost as bad as it gets at the Domain with most of the mud clinging to the ball. Lots of errors from both teams and with the whistle blowing constantly a very frustrating game was had by all. Hightlight of the day - super sub Tommie B spening most of his time in the bin but managing to take a Te K player with him.

Next week Puni away, so enjoy the after match, not many clubs beat Puni on that score.
